Cees J. M. Lamting
Short intro of the speaker:
     Cees LANTING is since April 2000 Partnership Manager of the Hermes
  Partnership.
He has an extensive experience as an independent consultant
  in the telecommunications and IT sector, including working as an expert
  for the EC in the area of Open Network Provision, following a career in
  software and IT industry.
     At Hewlett-Packard he held positions as Senior technical consultant,
  R&D Networking Standards Consultant and European Networking Standards
  co-ordinator.
He studied physics at the University of Amsterdam, where he
  led the development of computer controlled electro-optical equipment for
  atom spectroscopy.

Dr. Jossy Sayir, Telecommunications Research Center in Vienn, Austria
Short intro of the speaker:
     Dr. Jossy Sayir received his Dipl. El.-Ing. from the ETH Zurich in
  1991. From 1991 to 1993, he worked as a development engineer for
  Motorola Communications in Tel Aviv, Israel, working on the design
  of the first digital mobile radio system developed by Motorola.
  He returned to the ETH from 1993 to 1999, getting his PhD in 1999
  under the supervision of Prof. J.L. Massey. The title of his thesis
  was "On Coding by Probability Transformation". Since 2000, he has
  been employed by the Telecommunications Research Center in Vienna
  (ftw.) as a senior researcher. His research interests include
  iterative decoding methods, joint source and channel coding and
  the properties of Markov sources. He has been managing a strategic
  project at ftw. since July 2002.
